The Seafood Importers Association is stoked that at the recent MSC /ASC sustainable seafood awards three SIAA Association members picked up a range of awards, as part of the Marine Stewardship Council and Aquaculture Stewardship Council’s Sustainable Seafood Week.
Responsible Seafood Importer – ASC:
Award winner: Bidfood Australia

Bidfood Australia picked up the award for Responsible Importer for their commitment to responsible sourcing of seafood both domestically and internationally.
KB Foods received a highly commended in this category.
Best Sustainable Seafood Product – MSC
o Glacier 51 Toothfish - Austral Fisheries
o Crumbed Australian Prawn Cutlets – Bidfood Australia
o Just Caught Crumbed Fish Fillets Multiseed - KB Foods
Austral Fisheries won best MSC product for their range of Glacier 51 Toothfish products.
Bidfood Australia picked up a Highly Commended for their Crumbed Prawn Cutlet MSC product produced in partnership with A. Raptis and sons, which uses MSC sourced Australian banana prawns that are then processed in Viet Nam.
KB Foods also picked up a highly commended for their Just Caught Crumbed Multiseed Fish Fillets, these are made in China from MSC certified Alaska Pollock.
Best Responsible Seafood Product – ASC
Award winner: Australian Clean Seas Kingfish - KB Foods
KB Foods won best ASC responsible seafood product for Cleanseas Yellowtail Kingfish products.
Other category winners included Coles, Woolworths Aldi and independent fishmonger Harley & Johns Seafood from Wollongong in NSW.
